Our gold engagement rings are handmade in Melbourne in 18 karat yellow, rose and white gold. Yellow gold is the warmest and most traditional of the three. Each design is built around its centre stone, whether that is a natural, antique or lab grown diamond or a coloured gemstone selected by our founder and GIA gemologist Hamish Whiting. The collection runs from solitaires to asymmetric and art deco inspired settings, and any ring can be made to your own design through our custom service. Book a Melbourne or Sydney showroom appointment to see each gold against your chosen stone.

Every gold engagement ring in our collection is handmade in our Melbourne workshop in 18 karat gold. At 75% pure gold, 18 karat holds a richer colour than lower karats, and it is the standard we work to across yellow, rose and white gold. The remaining 25% is alloy, and that mix sets the colour: copper deepens it toward rose, while palladium and other white metals produce white gold, which is usually finished with rhodium plating. Each metal changes how a ring reads on the hand and how the stone above it looks, so we suggest seeing them side by side before you decide.
Yellow gold is the warmest of the three, and it directly affects the stone it holds. Sapphires, emeralds and spinel sit well against it, as do antique diamonds, whose softer light and warmer body colour suit the metal. With a colourless diamond, yellow gold reflects some of its warmth into the stone. Some clients want exactly that. Others keep a yellow gold band and set the diamond in white gold or platinum claws to keep it bright. Our founder and GIA gemologist Hamish Whiting can show you how a specific stone behaves in each metal before anything is made.
Our yellow gold engagement rings range from a classic solitaire to asymmetric settings, art deco detailing and creative metalwork, where the colour of the gold carries sculpted and wider forms well. Centre stones include natural, antique and lab grown diamonds, our exclusive La Cush™ cut, and coloured gemstones selected by Hamish. For a softer tone, see our rose gold engagement rings. If nothing in the collection is quite right, our custom service builds a design around your stone and brief.
18 karat gold is durable enough for daily wear, but it is softer than platinum. Over time the band will pick up fine surface marks, which can be polished back at a care and maintenance appointment. Claws should be checked once a year, particularly if you work with your hands. If that applies to you, ask us about a heavier band or platinum claws when designing your ring. Our jewellery care guide covers everyday cleaning and storage.

Neither is better. It depends on your stone, your skin tone and the metal you already wear. Yellow gold suits coloured gemstones and antique diamonds. White gold gives a colourless diamond a whiter backdrop, but its rhodium plating needs renewing every few years to keep its colour. Platinum is also available if you want a white metal that does not need plating.
Sapphires, emeralds and spinel all sit well against yellow gold, as do antique diamonds such as old mine and old European cuts. Our founder and GIA gemologist Hamish Whiting selects every stone we use and can show you how each one looks in yellow gold before your ring is made. See our sapphire and antique diamond guides for more.
The karat number is the share of pure gold. 18 karat is 75% gold, 14 karat is 58.5% and 9 karat is 37.5%. Higher gold content gives a richer colour and better resistance to tarnish, which is why our engagement rings are made in 18 karat gold.

Most can. We offer a complimentary resize of up to two sizes up or down. Some designs, such as full eternity settings, are harder to resize, so it is worth getting as close to the correct size as possible. Our ring size guide can help.
