An antique diamond is a diamond cut at least 100 years ago meaning antique diamonds were cut before modern precision cutting tools existed. These precision tools became more widely available in the 20s and 30s, meaning anything beforehand was cut by the hands of some incredibly skilled artisans. 

Some of the defining characteristics of antique cuts are broader facets, higher crowns, and a gentler sparkle than modern examples.
