The proportions of a diamond's cut determines the light return and the brightness of the diamond. It is the most important of the 4 C’s in determining the beauty of the diamond, yet also the most neglected. Because the GIA does not give a cut grade to any diamond other than a round diamond, there is very little incentive for diamond cutters to cut them to ideal proportions, instead preferring to maximise profit by leaving as much carat weight on the diamond as possible.
For this reason at CUSHLA WHITING all of the diamonds that we buy are given a GRADE ABOVE™ cut grade using ASET (the Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool) to scientifically examine the light return and optical symmetry of the diamond.
All of our diamonds are meticulously hand selected by founder, Hamish Whiting (GIA Gemologist, HRD Antwerp Diamond Grader). With 20 years of experience in buying diamonds, Hamish has developed a buying strategy that secures for our customers the top performing and best value diamonds in the world.
A 1 carat diamond engagement ring typically has a diameter of around 6.4mm. This size can be compared to a 0.5 carat diamond ring, which would have a slightly smaller diameter of around 5.9mm. On the other hand, a 1.5 carat diamond ring would have a slightly larger diameter of around 6.9mm.
A 1-carat ring is worth an average price of $2900, with a price range between $980 and $11,340. Please note prices are listed in USD and are only approximates.
Yes, a 1 carat engagement ring can be considered good enough. It may not have the same level of visual impact as a 2 carat diamond, but it can still be beautiful and desirable. The quality of the diamond, including its cut, clarity, and craftsmanship, will also play a significant role in determining its overall appeal.
