The ethics surrounding diamond sourcing has had its fair share of scrutiny in the last 20 years. This has led to it being the most regulated commodity in the jewellery world. It is a legal requirement for all diamonds entering Australia to be Kimberley certified conflict-free.

Going one step further, at CW we source all of our modern cut diamonds directly from the global diamond sightholder companies which cut around 90% of the world's diamonds. Through buying directly from a Global Sightholder we can ensure that the diamond rough has come from one of the big reputable diamond mining operations, and not an unregulated “downstream” operation.

These Global Sightholder companies are carefully selected by the big mining companies (De Beers, Rio Tinto and Diavik) for upholding industry-leading standards of professionalism, and ethical and sustainable practices. The big diamond mines are located in Botswana, Namibia, Canada and South Africa.

Sapphires

Our Gemologist, Hamish Whiting, has formed strong relationships with our trusted suppliers in each mining area to ensure that the mining operations follow ethical practices. The world of gemstones is small and reputation is everything. Sourcing of gemstones from developing countries can significantly support the livelihoods and economies of local communities, where independent artisanal mining provides an additional source of income to traditional farming.

We allocate 1 hour for each appointment with our specialist design and gemology consultants so there is plenty of time to see and try all options and come to a decision.

We find that many couples will come in together for the consultation so that the recipient of the ring can be involved and choose a ring that’s perfect for them and then the proposal timing will be a surprise. For people who choose the engagement ring without their partners involved they have normally had a few hints made that they can work off OR they can ask their partner's friend for some clues. People very rarely come in with no idea of what their partner would like.

With 20 years of experience in buying diamonds, Hamish has developed a buying strategy that secures for our customers the top performing and best value diamonds and gemstones in the world.

Absolutely, we offer a complimentary resize within 2 sizes up or down. It is still important to try to get the ring size as close to accurate as possible as a very big resize won't be possible in a number of styles. Our team can offer some help in guessing your partner's ring size so don’t worry you’re not alone!

We don’t offer payment plans. For ready to ship pieces we require payment in full to secure the order and for our bespoke pieces we require a 50% deposit to secure your order and make the piece with the balance payable upon completion.

While we currently only have stores in Melbourne & Sydney, we often have clients from all over Australia. These areas include but are not limited to Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Hobart, Newcastle and Geelong.
